Ace (My first guitar hero) has been on my mind lately.  Went up to Milwaukee Friday to see him at the Rave Eagles Club.  Tremendous show and Ace is playing better than ever (5 years sober)! Also, picked up his bio "No Regrets."  Includes a great anecdote from the 1975 Tour on p. 189 about just how funny and entertaining Alex was even then. Ace says he has always liked Rush and still does!  Good man....lucky to be Alive! (Pun intended)

It's a good read. I recently got No Regrets and flew through it. I think it's interesting, his take on being an alcoholic/addict. Doesn't use it as an excuse but owns his behavior. I have been reading Ozzy's book too, after having read Rudy Sarzo's book about his time with Randy and Ozzy. Ace almost seems tame. I do wish he would have gotten into a little more detail about his trick guitars. Not surprisingly there is some Gene bashing, but it is more down played than Gene's book is concerning Ace & Peter, or the KISSology commentary from Gene and Paul. It seems the biggest problem with the reunion stemmed from Gene and Paul treating Ace and Peter like hired hands so it's no wonder both "factions" resorted to their previous behaviors. Not surprised Ace and Alex hung out. I had read in another book about those two, Steven Tyler and a hotel mirrored closet door removed for illicit purposes. Alex couldn't keep up. Ah, the life of the rock star in the 70s....

Ha, I read that a few months back. It'd been on the shelf since I bought it at a local book signing Andy did in Alameda before the Police announce the tour. Like by a couple months. We all got to write what we wanted Andy to inscribe on our copies. I opted for "The telephone is ringing..." I tore through this one fairly quickly too. I remembered him being older than the other two, but not by so much. Very interesting his stories about his seemingly meandering journey through various scenes. Like he had been in the Animals with Eric Burdon. Granted they had seriously waned by that point but still it is a far cry from the Animals to the Police. Plus Andy wrote it himself without a ghost so it is quite thoughtful and insightful and more personal than Ace's book. Been reading Ozzy's book too and that reads like he told the stories to somebody who recorded them and wrote them out. Andy seems the least affected by "road years" despite having just a few more.

Howdy, Stranger!
